2 Things Frank Lampard did, that made Chelsea win Newcastle 2-0

Chelsea football club were the first to return to premier league action, after a very long international break. The blues were to visit Newcastle to continue to fine run of form, and get a massive three point that would push them into the top four chase.
This game against Newcastle was not an easy one, owing to the fact that the hosts are very good when it comes to rapid play of football. However, Chelsea were able to overcome the horror with a comfortable 2-0 win. Goals came in both halves with Fernandez gifting Chelsea the lead in the 10th minute, while Tammy Abraham provided the second for the visitors in the second half.
This article is focused on discussing 2 key things Frank Lampard did, that made Chelsea win by such a margin.
1) Accurate Team Selection:
Frank Lampard stuck to his winning formation (4-3-3), after the formation helped him achieve varying degrees of success before the break both in the domestic league and across Europe. The formation allows Frank play an attacking style of football with high dominance of possession. The rapid attack of the formation helped Chelsea win their first goal, when Fernandez made a poor clearance into the back of his own net due to panic.
2) Mendy, Mount and Abraham start:
Chelsea fans Ave been demanding that their legendary coach should drop players like Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham, but yet again the coach selected them for first team action today and they showed why the coach has so much confidence in them. Mason in midfield is so dynamic that he presses high, wins fuels for his teammates and sets up quick counter attacks. Mendy was well behaved in goal again, as he prevented many close calls Newcastle had to hurt Chelsea. While Tammy Abraham has been a beast of a center forward, in the way he runs with the ball and create spaces for his newly acquired partner Timo Werner to drift into. One of the chances Werner had in the first half came from such linkup play, and it shows how difficult it would be for Lampard to drop Tammy.
Chelsea are currently top of the premier league table, with 18 points and that would surely put joy in the heart of Frank Lampard. They would now have to rest, and resume their hectic week away to Rennes at the Uefa Champions League next Tuesday.
