After Chelsea Won Rennes 2-1, Check Who Won The Man Of The Match Award

Chelsea won Rennes 2-1 in today UEFA Champions League fixture at Stade de la Route de Lorient, Chelsea hopped into the round of sixteen after they grabbed late victory against Rennes.

Chelsea had few chances to score in the first half of the match, we saw Timo Werner miss a chance that could have put them in front. Luckily for Chelsea, Callum Hudson odoi scored in the 22nd minute of the match from Mason Mount’s world class pass.

Rennes looked like the better team in the second half of the match. They dominated play in the second half of the match, earlier Edouard Mendy denied the hosts an equalizer after he made an impressive save. Guirassy scored the equalizer for Rennes after Bourigeaud provided the assist, it was a well worked goal.

Olivier Giroud’s late strike sent them into the next stage of the competition, it was an easy tap in for Olivier Giroud.

Looking at the total ratings of all players out of ten, Olivier Giroud had the highest rating and was the Man of the Match against Rennes in today’s match, he scored the winning goal for Chelsea in injury time as Chelsea booked a place in the next stage of the UEFA Champions League. We also saw Edouard Mendy’s world class saves as Rennes couldn’t get past him in the second half though he didn’t keep a clean sheet. Hakim Ziyech also had a good rating though he played for few minutes, we saw his impact on the match.
