Chelsea Board Ready to Welcome £40million Signing of World-Class Defender Ahead of Arsenal

Chelsea Football Club are set to storm the transfer market to bring in world-class players to further improve the quality of Frank Lampard’s squad after a recent slump in results in the Premier League. According to reports, Frank Lampard is looking to further improve the defense and the Chelsea Board are ready to beat Arsenal to complete the massive signing of Borussia Monchengladbach’s experienced defender Matthias Ginter to bring in more quality to Chelsea’s defensive line this season.

Chelsea have been a pretty solid defensive unit this season as the likes of Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma and Ben Chilwell have greatly improved the Blues’ backline this season. However, Frank Lampard has identified the defense as a position that needs further strengthening and the Chelsea boss has now identified German international defender Matthias Ginter as a potential signing to bring in massive defensive quality and huge squad depth for Chelsea in the January transfer window.

26-years Old German international defender and Borussia Monchengladbach captain Matthias Ginter is one of the best defenders in the German Bundesliga as his impressive performances for the German national team and Monchengladbach has attracted the interest of Chelsea transfer chiefs. The 6’2 Matthias Ginter has been earmarked by Frank Lampard as the player to bolster the defensive line as the likes of Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori have been linked with a move out of Stamford Bridge this transfer window.

Matthias Ginter is a hugely experienced center-back whose impressive ball playing ability, passing range, excellent tackling ability and pace to make recovery tackles will be a massive boost for Frank Lampard this season in the Premier League and Champions League. The experienced German will bring in huge experience and defensive quality for Chelsea as Frank Lampard needs more experienced players at the back to improve the mentality at the club this season.

However, Chelsea will have to pay a fee in the region of £40million to complete the signing of Matthias Ginter from Monchengladbach as the defender is highly-rated at the German Club. Also, Chelsea have hugely depended on both Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva to bring that much needed defensive quality this season but the arrival of Matthias Ginter will bring in another quality option and also, the much needed quality defensive squad depth.

If Chelsea and Frank Lampard are looking to build a squad capable of competing for trophies with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, the Blues must bring in more quality and experienced defensive players to solidify the backline. The addition of Ginter to Chelsea’s squad will be a huge statement from Chelsea to show the Blues’ intentions to create a formidable club that will enable them compete in the league and Champions League.
