Robert Lewandowski – Chelsea will make an ambitious £50m bid to sign the Pole from Bayern Munich after failing in their attempts to land Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund (Sun, July 18).

Chelsea’s search for a new striker is proving to be one of the most talked about sagas of this summer’s transfer window.

After Timo Werner failed to provide the goods that were expected of him in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge last term, Chelsea head coachThomas Tuchel, who watched his side hammer Championship side Peterborough United 6-1 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday at their Cobham training ground, has made it his mission to bolster his side’s attacking options this summer.

As everyone knows by now, Tuchel’s top target is Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland. The Blues have earmarked the Norway international to solve their goal-scoring troubles and are desperate to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

However, the German club are reluctant to lose the former Red Bull Salzburg man as they are desperate to retain his services following the impending departure of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United in a huge £73million deal

According to The Sun, Chelsea are ready to turn to Bayern Munich goal-scoring sensation Robert Lewandowski and are plotting a £50million for his services. Bayern want to tie the Poland international down to a new deal, despite him having two years remaining on his current deal, meaning Chelsea may also face a stern battle to make a deal for the former Dortmund man possible.

However, although Lewandowski is much older than Haaland, he remains one of the deadliest strikers in world football, with his statistics speaking for themselves time and time again. As well as that, he is valued at considerably less than Haaland.

Chelsea willing to include Callum Hudson-Odoi in deal to sign Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman

Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman and are willing to let Callum Hudson-Odoi move the other way in order to sign the Frenchman.

Coman, 25, has two years to run on his deal in Bavaria but the club have made little progress in talks over an extension, with Coman determined to become one of the highest paid players at the club should he opt to stay.

His situation has alerted a number of Premier League clubs and Manchester United were interested before concluding a deal for Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Hudson-Odoi has failed to kick on since signing a new long-term deal at Chelsea in 2019, which he signed after angling for a move to Bayern Munich.

The Germans had three bids turned down for the England winger but the Blues convinced him to stay in west London.

However, Bayern have never dropped their interest and L’Equipe claim Chelsea are willing to include Hudson-Odoi in a deal to sign Coman.

The Germans cannot afford to let Coman to run down his deal and they are acutely aware that he will be worth less in 12 months’ time – when he’ll have just a year left on his contract.

Tuchel is keen to sign a more dynamic winger and is willing to part with Hakim Ziyech, who joined the club last summer from Ajax.

Chelsea are interested in Erling Haaland but a move for the Norwegian is complicated and would require the Blues to smash their transfer record
