Chelsea secured qualification into the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League with a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were in control of the game from the kickoff and opened the scoring in the 34th minute through their £150 million front line. Hakim Ziyech finished off a smooth counter attack led by Kai Havertz, with Timo Werner providing the assist.

Poor performance generally from Diego Simone’s men. For a side chasing the tie, they struggled to create much chances for themselves and their front line duo of Luis Suarez and Joao Felix were anonymous for most parts of the match.

At the back, Oblak could have done better for Hakim Ziyech’s goal and Savic shot his team in the foot by receiving a red card.

Here are their player ratings below :

Starting XI : Oblak – 4, Lodi – 5, Savic – 4, Jimenez – 6, Trippier – 4, Saul – 5, Koke – 5, Carrasco – 3, Suarez – 3, Felix – 3

Subs : Hermoso – 5, Dembele – 3, Correa – 4

Man Of The Match

Ngolo Kante was the stand out player, a 10 out of 10 on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman was relentless in his efforts, covering the most ground, protecting the back three and supporting in attack when needed.

Kante played the full 90′ but sprinted from his own half to provide the dummy run which help set up the second goal in added time.
