Former Dundee United, Celtic & Aberdeen winger joins Heart

Former Celtic and Aberdeen winger Gary Mackay-Steven has joined Hearts after his New York City FC deal expired.

The 30-year-old, capped twice by Scotland, has signed a contract with the Gorgie side running to 2023.

Mackay-Steven spent a year-and-a-half in America, where he made 39 appearances and helped New York to the MLS play-offs in his first season.

RB Leipzig’s recent form has been credited to the impressive showings of Sabitzer, with the player bagging two goals just last season in the Champions League against Tottenham. Furthermore, Sabitzer has continued his excellent form in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 3 goals in 10 games so far.

Sabitzer is comfortable playing anywhere in midfield, but his preferred position is in the centre of the park, but can also be deployed as a right winger. Sabitzer has previously played for RB Salzburg, Admira Wacker and Rapid Vienna.
