Edouard Mendy declines to renew his Chelsea contract, due to issues with his current contract

As Chelsea works to secure his long-term future, Edouard Mendy, the No. 1 goalkeeper for the Blues, is rumored to have declined a contract extension. Nigeria Information Guide

The Senegal goalkeeper arrived at Stamford Bridge in September 2020. The 30-year-old paid French club Rennes £22 million when he was signed by the Blues to a five-year deal. After he establishes himself as the team’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, though, Chelsea officials want the player to extend his contract.

Mendy was added to the team to compete against Kepa Arrizabalaga, but he soon cemented himself as Fran Lampard’s first option. The France-born goalie has remained Thomas Tuchel’s No. 1 goalie.

His performance this season has drawn criticism, though. He has committed a number of serious mistakes, one of which contributed to Leeds’ defeat. JMB Score

Mendy, who has started each game this season, has received backing from Tuchel.
