Europa League Simulated Draw: Tottenham, Man United Get Dream Ties

We simulated the Europa League draw to see who Arsenal could get in the round of 32 stage as the Gunners look to lift the trophy and return to the Champions League

Teams around Europe are waiting to discover their fate, as the Europa League round of 32 draw takes place on Monday.

Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal squad, and fans will be on alert as they wait to find out who they will be playing when this season’s competition resumes in February.

The Gunners came close to winning the crown in 2018/19, but were beaten 4-1 by Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final.

And with the team struggling in the top flight of English football so far this season, winning the Europa League could represent their best chance of sealing a return to the Champions League.

Arsenal’s perfect record in the group stage means they have avoided drawing the likes of Ajax, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Club Brugge, who have dropped down from the Champions League.

Serie A pair Roma and Napoli are two other teams that the Gunners can’t face in the round of 32 stage, as is a reunion with former head coach Unai Emery who is now in charge of La Liga side Villarreal.

We used a knockout stage simulator to determine who the Gunners, as well as Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Leicester City, might draw, and the results were fascinating.

With Arsenal finishing top of their group, they were unable to draw Molde as well as any team from the same country, so they avoided Spurs, Man United, and the Foxes.

However, they were pitted against Olympiacos.

This tie would bring back bad memories for the Gunners as they crashed out of the competition at the hands of the Greek outfit at the round of 32 stage last season.
