Todd Boehly and his Chelsea co-owners have delivered their glowing verdict on new head coach Graham Potter as he replaces Thomas Tuchel.

The 47-year-old penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, leaving Brighton and Hove Albion after a successful stint at the AmEx.

This comes following Tuchel’s dismissal on Wednesday morning after a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

However, this result was not believed to have been the reason for the sacking, with the Blues owners wishing to bring in a long-term manager for the future.

Potter was identified early as the favourite for the job alongside Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea acted quickly to bring in the former Brighton boss.

After impressing with the Seagulls in the Premier League, Potter received many fans in football and Boehly was one of them, with him now acting to get Potter in.

Speaking following the announcement of Potter as Chelsea head coach, Boehly expressed his excitement to work with the Englishman.

He told Chelsea’s website: “We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea.

“He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club.

“Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, he has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch which will make Chelsea a more successful Club.

“He has had a major impact at his previous Clubs and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea.

Co-owners Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano added to Boehly’s statement, describing Potter as a winner and leader as they prepare for life under the head coach.

“Graham is a football innovator and winner on the pitch and a leader off the pitch,” they added.

“He has deeply impressed us with his ideas and approach to football.

“We are thrilled to partner with Graham to build a winning team, one that embodies the culture of collaboration, innovation, teamwork, player development, and a commitment to excellence on and off the pitch.

“We are fortunate to have Graham and his team as our partners in that journey.”

Potter will take charge immediately, with his first match coming against Fulham on Saturday.
