Chelsea will be looking to add more quality to their squad once the January transfer window opens for business, with head coach Frank Lampard having already identified his top target

The January transfer window is almost upon us, and all eyes will be on Chelsea once again after a memorable summer at Stamford Bridge.

In total, the Blues drafted in seven new faces during the summer, spending more than a combined total of £220million, as the club hierarchy aimed to bolster their Premier League title prospects under Frank Lampard.

It was a memorable period for the club’s supporters, as deals were completed for the likes of Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

After spending such huge amount over the summer, Chelsea may be forced to ease off the accelerator pedal as far as their January recruitment drive is concerned, with the club having not been able to make as much revenue as they usually would, with the coronavirus crisis continuing to impact football heavily.

Though Haaland is only 20, his record already speaks for itself, with him having notched almost 100 career goals at senior level for both club and country.

This season, the youngster, who has connections with Chelsea’s Premier League rivals, Leeds United, through his Father, has already scored 17 goals in 14 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions, showcasing just how big a talent he is.

With the youngster flying in Germany, the Norwegian international is poised to spark a bidding war from clubs right across Europe, including some of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals.

Manchester City, who consider Haaland as a long-term successor to Sergio Aguero, and cross-city rivals Manchester United are in the running, as are the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, meaning Chelsea will face a stern test to lure the striker to west London.

Should Chelsea be fortunate enough to win the race for the former Red Bull Salzburg striker, Haaland would be handed the chance to work under a manager he has lavished with praise in the past;
