Hakim Ziyech’s message after Frank Lampard confirms Chelsea injury boos

The playmaker has missed Chelsea’s last three games across all competitions with a hamstring injury, but could make his return in the Premier League clash against West Ham

Hakim Ziyech is in line to make his return from injury in Chelsea’s Premier League clash against West Ham United on Monday night.

The attacking midfielder, who has enjoyed an impressive start to life in west London following his £33.4m summer transfer from Ajax, has missed the last three games in a row across all competitions.

This is after sustaining a hamstring injury during the first-half of Chelsea’s win over Leeds United at the beginning of the month.

And perhaps coincidentally, the Blues have failed to win any of the games in Ziyech’s absence and go into the London derby having lost back-to-back games against Everton and Wolves.

Having seen the team slip out of the top four whilst he’s been in the treatment room at the club’s training base in Cobham, the playmaker will be keen to play some part on Monday.

But will he be available for selection?

Well, Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard revealed on Friday that Ziyech, as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi, are back in training and that they have a chance of making the matchday squad.

“It’s their first day back with the group today, training at a decent level, so I’ll have to see how they are in the next few days if they are to make West Ham,” Lampard told reporters.

Following confirmation of the injury boost, Ziyech has been active on social media.

Although, it hasn’t been to discuss his possible involvement against the Hammers under the lights at Stamford Bridge, but rather to send a special message Fikayo Tomori.

The central defender turned 23 on Saturday (December 19) and Ziyech had a simple three-word message for his teammate.

“Happy Birthday broski,” Ziyech wrote on his Instagram stories with two birthday cake emojis accompanying the post.

Interestingly, the image Ziyech used is of him and Tomori sharing the same pitch but from last season when Chelsea and Ajax clashed in the Champions League.

While Ziyech could return for Chelsea, Reece James has emerged as a doubt to face the Hammers.

The Athletic have revealed that the England international has undergone a scan to determine the extent of a knee injury.
