“My First Year Was Tougher Than I Expected It To Be”- Werner Opens Up About His First Season Abroad

Timo Werner joined Chelsea last summer from RB Leipzig in Germany. The German was one of the first superstars Frank Lampard added to the squad ahead of last season, after suffering from a transfer ban imposed by FIFA in his first year in charge of the blues.

Timo Werner blistering pace and composure in front of goal in the Bundesliga was one of the major reason, Chelsea secured his services. However, Timo Werner didn’t hit the ground running immediately in the Premier league and he struggled for some while in the new league.

His deep in form made many to doubt his goals scoring ability. One of Timo Werner best attributes was that he never stopped trying to prove himself every single time he was on the pitch, he is always pressing down defenders with his pace and also creating goal scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Timo Werner finally admitted that his first season in the premier league was tougher and harder than he expected, when he joined from RB Leipzig earlier in the summer. He further said in the Premier league a player can’t afford to drop his performance level to 90 or 95 percent in any game, because of the physicality of the league a player must always give a 100 percent performance.

Timo Werner finished the season with Chelsea as an European champion, a great achievement in first year at the club
