The transfer window is due to open shortly and Premier League clubs – including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal – are getting ready for a busy summer
The season is over and that can only mean one thing – transfers!
Managers across Europe are looking to improve their squads and be successful next term. One boss who’s desperate to do that is Erik ten Hag after he was appointed by Manchester United. The Red Devils finish sixth this year and are expecting a big turnover of players, with reports suggesting Frenkie de Jong and Darwin Nunez are on their shortlist.
One player who won’t be leaving Old Trafford is Cristiano Ronaldo, who committed his future to the club on Friday. The same can’t be said for Arsenal skipper Alexandre Lacazette. He’s leaving the Emirates this summer and is being linked with a return to Lyon… and there are plenty more transfer rumours where that came from.
You can follow all the action in our live transfer blog below. Stay tuned, folks!
Chelsea close in on Gvardiol
Chelsea are looking for a defender too after Antonio Rudiger left as a free agent with Andreas Christensen set to follow suit.
Jules Kounde has been a long-standing target for the Blues and it’s claimed he isn’t the only player in his position they are looking at.
Josko Gvardiol is reportedly on their radar with Tuchel’s men set to beat London rivals Tottenham to the signing of the RB Leipzig stopper to play alongside Kounde, according to the Daily Mail.
Ousmane Dembele’s deal to Chelsea ‘takes off’
Chelsea have emerged as the favourites to sign Ousmane Dembele this summer with the potential transfer ‘taking off’ in the last 24 hours.
It was reported earlier in the week Dembele is on the verge of reaching an agreement with Chelsea, according to Mundo Deportivo.
And that has been backed up by talkSPORT who claim they are in pole position to sign the Frenchman with the deal ‘taking off’ overnight.
Arsenal have reportedly had an initial offer for Gianluca Scamacca rejected but are preparing a second bid for the Sassuolo striker.
The Gunners are keen on making a move for the talisman after Alexandre Lacazette left announced his exit on Friday.

President offered Mbappe advice
French president Emmanuel Macron has confirmed he talked to Kylian Mbappe to “advise” him on his future before the striker penned a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe has opted to sign a three-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions, keeping him in the French capital until 2025. It means he will not be joining Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, as many had expected – with suggestions that he had given his word to the Spanish giants that he would be joining them this year.
Gnabry wants Bayern stay
Serge Gnabry wants to stay at Bayern Munich despite rejecting a new contract at the Allianz Arena, reports SPORT1.
The German is currently at odds with the club over a new deal but does want to remain with the Bavarian outfit.
Spurs reject Dybala
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham side opted against signing Argentine international Paulo Dybala due to the fact he was holding out for a staggering £280,000 a week.
The 28-year-old forward leaves Juventus this summer on a free transfer after the player could not reach an agreement with the Turin-based titans over an extension, putting plenty of top clubs across the continent on high alert.
Fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United are both rumoured to have explored the possibility of signing Dybala. However, the astronomical wages prove to be a sticking point for many teams – not just Spurs, as per SportsMail.
De Jong on Xavi talks, Barca exit
I have enough confidence in myself [to be a success at Barcelona]. I am not afraid. I recently spoke extensively with the trainer [Xavi]. That was a very good conversation.
“I will not go into that [the links to United]. Not even about other names or clubs. I used to be naive and open-minded about it. I don’t do that anymore. I understand that that link is made. That sum is not that difficult, it is logical. I have enjoyed working with Ten Hag at Ajax – and I can’t look into the future, of course. But I prefer to stay at Barcelona.
“That has always been my dream club and it still is. As long as I don’t hear from the club management, I assume nothing is going on.”

Wolves close on £30m defender
Wolves are closing in on Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio.
The 20-year-old wants the move to the Molineux and the two clubs are expected to meet this week to thrash out the finer details of his transfer.
Inacio’s contract in Lisbon runs until June 2026 and contains a buyout clause of £39million plus add-ons. However, he will cost Wolves around £30m, with the Portuguese side needing to sell players this summer to finance a rebuild of their squad. The Portuguese Under-21 international has attracted interest from other clubs in England and Spain.

Man Utd’s take on Timber price
Manchester United have not been put off signing Jurrien Timber despite Ajax demanding a £36million fee to let the 20-year-old leave.
Erik ten Hag is already going about business as the new United boss, and he’s turning to his former side as he looks to bring in reinforcements. The Dutchman is already targeting his old midfielder Frenkie De Jong, and he’s hoping to raid Ajax for Timber.
But Ajax have slapped a high price-tag on Timber amid the ongoing United interest, although this hasn’t deterred them. But their issue may be that the defender is leaning towards staying at Ajax, according to De Telegraaf.
Mane offers Liverpool quit suggestion
Sadio Mane has sensationally suggested that he is prepared to follow the will of his home nation and quit Liverpool.
The 30-year-old is heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, having yet to be offered a new deal at Anfield. Mane is understood to be keen on the idea of switch to the Bundesliga after agreeing a three-year contract with Bayern.
Now the forward, who is tied to the Reds until June 2023, has given his biggest indication yet of wanting to end his six-year stint on Merseyside, having been told in a news conference that “60%-70% of Senegalese people” hope to see him leave. “I’ll do what they want,” Mane replied, speaking ahead of Senegal ‘s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home to Benin on Saturday. “We’ll see soon.”
Ronaldo’s transfer decision
Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will stay with Manchester United beyond this summer having expressed his happiness at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese superstar made an emotional return to the club last year, switching from Italian giants Juventus. Despite an underwhelming season on the pitch for the Red Devils, the 37-year-old still enjoyed a productive personal campaign with 24 goals in all competitions.
Doubt has emerged over his long term future at Old Trafford though. With just a year remaining on his contract and United having dropped into the Europa League, it has been suggested that he could look for a quick exit.
However, Ronaldo himself has expressed his happiness with life with the Red Devils having signalled his desire to keep producing the trademark performances that supporters have become accustomed to seeing from the former Real Madrid star.

Lukaku wants to quit Chelsea, eyes Inter return
Romelu Lukaku wants to return to Inter Milan this summer after less than 12 months at Chelsea if the two clubs can agree a deal, according to reports.
The Belgian returned to Stamford Bridge for a second spell having previously played there as a youngster. The Blues shelled out a club record £97.5m fee for the forward but he scored just eight Premier League goals despite being seen as the missing piece of the jigsaw.
Thomas Tuchel has been vocal in his criticism, previously leaving the player on the bench at times. The final decision on Lukaku’s future will be taken by the club’s new owners with a Todd Boehly-led consortium finalising their takeover recently, according to Sky Sports.
Newcastle’s Botman boost
Newcastle target Sven Botman wants to leave Lille this summer.
“I don’t know, but I think so,” the 22-year-old told Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad when asked about his future. “I intend to take a step. Talks are underway now. I won’t go into all of that, but it’s going well. I do hope that the transfer for the new season is completed. Preferably also for the pre-season, yes.”
Botman added: “Those clubs [Newcastle and AC Milan] are interested, yes. I can’t and won’t say much more about it. What I want is to take a nice step towards a nice competition. I am also looking forward to a new step.
“I am aware of what I want – that is not necessarily to that club or that competition. You weigh all kinds of things and then the total picture has to suit you. I must have a very good feeling about it.”

Lampard is a legend at Stamford Bridge, and he’s reportedly hoping to use his connections to land the two youngsters.
