Review of the Tuchel and Boehly Fallout that Caused the German Manager’s Sacking at Chelsea

According to the Daily Telegraph, poor relations between Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea owner Todd Boehly played a major role in the dismissal of the German manager on Wednesday.

Tuchel was sensationally sacked less than 12 hours after Chelsea began their Champions League group play with a 0-1 loss away to Dinamo Zagreb.

Initially, it was thought that the main reason for Tuchel’s dismissal was the poor start to the season – Chelsea had lost three of their last five games in all competitions -.

However, the Telegraph reports that there was considerable tension between Tuchel and Boehly over the summer.

Tensions between Tuchel and Boehly:

Tuchel was unhappy that Boehly had given him additional responsibility during the summer transfer window when it came to buying, selling and negotiating for players.

The German felt that he already had too much to do after taking over Chelsea.

He told Boehly that he was disappointed that former technical and performance advisor Petr Čech left after taking over at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel also revealed publicly last weekend that he was not involved in the appointment of the new sporting director.

A clear rift began to develop between Tuchel and Boehly, which ended with the latter being sacked.

Athletic adds that Boehly had taken the decision to sack Tuchel even before the defeat against Dinamo Zagreb. Even if Chelsea had won that match, the result would have been the same.

According to other reports, Tuchel’s relations with a number of Chelsea players have deteriorated, and some have reportedly been unhappy about not being included in the team or playing in the wrong position.

Tuchel follows in the footsteps of former president Bruce Buck, Marina Granovskaia, Czech and former international scouting director Scott McLachlan, who all left Chelsea’s doors after Boehly took over.

However, he will remain a Chelsea legend, having won the Champions League with the club last season.
