Transfer News: Done Deals, EPL Side To Battle Chelsea For Gvardiol, Chelsea Close To Hiring Shields

Chelsea are in advanced talks with Southampton to get the services of Jose Shields as the new Director of Recruitment, according to Fabrizio Romano. Shields is a veteran and had spent nine years at Manchester City’s academy. He has unearthed several top talents like Romeo Lavia, Bella-Kotchap, Juan Larios, Sam Edozie and others.
EPL Side To Battle Chelsea For Gvardiol
English Premier League side Tottenham have joined the race to sign RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, according to Football Insider. Chelsea were keen to get hold of the defender in the summer but could not get him as he was not up for sale. Although the defender signed an extension it seems that two Premier League clubs will once again try to sign him the next summer.
West Ham join Frattesi race
Davide Frattesi is the latest Sassuolo player to have caught the eye with his performances in Serie A. He could become the second player from the Italian side to sign for West Ham in the space of a couple of years if Calciomercato’s report (via West Ham Zone) is to be believed. Although, they will face competition if they do pursue a move with Roma and Manchester United among the teams linked with the 23-year-old.
Bayern Munich line Thuram up as potential Kane alternative
Harry Kane is one of the players on Bayern Munich’s wishlist for next summer, although he won’t be cheap. If the German champions are unable to strike a deal with Tottenham for their star man, they may turn to an option closer to home. According to TZ, Borussia Monchengladbach frontman Marcus Thuram has emerged as a potential target.

OFFICIAL: Bolton Wanderers snap up ex-Manchester United goalkeeper
Bolton Wanderers have signed goalkeeper Mackenzie Chapman for the club’s B team. Chapman, 20, has signed a contract until the end of the season with the Whites’ second string. He has recently been training with the club and has now gone into Matt Craddock’s squad for the rest of the campaign.
OFFICIAL: Birmingham City signs Lewis Cunningham
Birmingham City have announced the signing of young defender Lewis Cunningham.
Cunningham had been on trial with Blues and featured in a number of development team fixtures. He has now signed a one-year contract, with a year’s option, and will continue to be part of Steve Spooner’s under-21 side.
