France welcomes Bulgaria for their final warm up match before heading to the group of death in Euro 2020.

Les Bleus were lethal in the 3-0 win over Wales last week, even though they were aided by the 26th minute red card to Neco Williams.

Kylian Mpappe opened the scoring in the 34 minute and the lead was extended just after the halftime by Antoine Greizmann before Dembele completed the rout close to the 80th minute mark.

Karim Benzema returned to the starting eleven after a long hiatus. He had a chance to celebrate the occasion with a goal, only to rue the chance from the penalty spot in the 27th minute.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria were beaten 0-1 by Russia last week in a match both teams failed to create anything concrete.

The calendar year 2020 was an awful year for the Bulgaria national football team as the team managed just 1 win from 9 games across all competitions. The trend is continuing in 2021 as well with the team searching for a win after 5 games.

It is also worth noting that 9 of their last 15 matches ended in defeats. Another worrying factor is their goal scoring record on the road, just one in the last 7.

France vs Bulgaria Head-to-head

Les Bleus won the last three h2h meetings against Bulgaria, the most recent during World Cup qualifying campaign in 2016/17, 4-1 win at home and 1-0 away.

Bulgaria have won just once in 8 trips to France, which happened in a 1993 qualifying match. They lost in each of the remaining 7.

France vs Bulgaria Prediction

There is a big mismatch on paper between the two and I expect this to reflect on the football field as well. Almost all French players are vastly experienced at this level besides the world class quality in each department.

Bulgaria on the other hand is made up of young players and only 8 players have double figures in terms of appearances. Their woes in front of goal is further explained by the team’s current top scorer Bozhidar Kraev, 3 goals in 23 games for the national team.

Therefore, I have no doubt, whichever eleven Didier Deschamps put on the field on Tuesday have the capacity to bag a big convincing win.
