PSG vs Lille
Coupe de France
Date: Wednesday, 17 March 2021
Kick-Off at 16.45 UK
Venue: Parc Des Princes, Paris
Top two Ligue 1 outfits will raise the curtain on the last 16 round of the French Cup on Wednesday afternoon at Parc Des Princes. The two sides will lock horns in by far the most exciting clash at this stage of the competition. The match will take place three weeks before the other R16 outings due to PSG’s Champions League duties.
Despite being held to a goalless draw by Monaco on Sunday, Les Dogues managed to extend the lead on PSG at the top of the Ligue 1 standings. They’ve done so thanks to Nantes who have picked up a shocking 1-2 victory at Parc Des Princes on the same day. It was PSG’s second straight defeat on the home patch in the league, following a 0-2 loss to Monaco last month.
PSG vs Lille Head-to-head
PSG have been much more successful in the history of home matches against Les Dogues. They won 17, drew 8, and lost only 2 of 27 clashes against Lille at Parc Des Princes.
Les Parisiens won two and drew one of the last three encounters with Lille who have failed to find the back of the net along the way.
The teams shared spoils in a goalless draw when they met each other in the first half of the season in Ligue 1 in December last year.
PSG vs Lille Prediction
Mauricio Pochettino is going through rough times at the start of his reign at PSG. The fans are used to dominance in domestic circles but Les Parisiens are currently three points shy of Lille at the top of the Ligue 1 standings. A potential failure in this cup tie would further deepen the crisis at Parc Des Princes, despite the elimination of Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Les Dogues will enter the game in much higher spirits. They kept back-to-back clean sheets against the likes of Lyon (a 2-0 win) and Monaco (a 0-0 draw) in the last two league affairs. We would not be surprised to see them keeping PSG’s stars who have notched only two goals in the last three home matches in all competitions at bay here.
The value is with the visitors not to lose at the odds of 2.25, while we will also back the hosts to score fewer than two goals in the game at the 2.20 odds.
