Southampton vs Arsenal
England – Premier League
Date: Tuesday, 26 January 2021
Kick-off at 20:15 UK/ 21:15 CET
Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Gunners have recently been on a rise. They had made a slow start to their season, and talks had even begun about their chances to get relegated.

And while it certainly was a slight exaggeration, it needs to be mentioned that the team was placed dangerously close to the relegation cut-off.

However, since then they have improved their form dramatically, and as of now they are performing at a level that would be acceptable for a titan of the league.

They are currently scoring in plenty in the league, and have clawed their way back to the top tier. They are also one of the rare teams to stay unbeaten in the past five match-days in the PL.

Meanwhile, the Saints have been a major player in the contest right from the start of the campaign. They have lost just five times this whole season in the English top flight, and four of these defeats had come against the absolute best teams in the PL.

Moreover, they also are in good form at home, and most importantly, they had just eliminated Mikel Arteta’s men in the FA Cup. Note that the FA Cup was kind of a forte for the Gunners.

By all means, expect a fierce encounter – as Arteta’s men have a score to settle. Moreover, with the kind of form either offense is in right now, expect goals in plenty as well.

Southampton vs Arsenal: Head-to-head (h2h)

  • The previous four overall wins were evenly split into two each for either team.
  • The latest clash had taken place in the FA Cup, and then Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men recorded a 1-0 victory.
  • The former 12 wins at this stadium were split into six each for both teams.
  • At this ground, the guests had scored two or more goals in four of the past six clashes.

Southampton vs Arsenal Prediction

The Saints lost 2-0 on the road the last match-day, against Leicester. In the meantime, Arteta’s men won 3-0 at home against Newcastle.

Going on, Hasenhuttl’s men had won three of their previous four overall games, and they were unbeaten in 15 of their past 18 fixtures.

At home, they had won seven of their last ten appearances, and their only two losses here since September had come against the two Manchester teams.

On the other hand, their counterparts had won four of their past five league fixtures, and their only two PL defeats away from home since October had come against Tottenham and Everton.

Suffice it to say that either team is in good form at the moment – especially their offense. And on top of that, majority of h2h meetings over the years had plenty of goals.

Likely, expect a goal-fest this Tuesday.
