Verona vs Roma
Italy Serie A,
Date: Sunday, 19 September 2021
Kick-off 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

Top of the table meets the very bottom on Sunday afternoon when Roma travel to Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to take on struggling Verona in the fourth round of the Serie A.

Roma’s former manager Eusebio Di Francesco will not have the chance to face his ex team as he has just parted ways with Hellas Verona on Tuesday.

People at Verona did not have patience for Di Francesco who got off to a terrible start with three defeats in three matches.

They have now probably regretted losing Ivan Juric who led them quite successfully in the last couple of seasons.

They latest of Verona’s failures came on Monday evening in the last fixture of the previous Serie A round.

They fell 1-0 away at Bologna without making a single shot on target in the 90 minutes of the affair at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Verona’s new manager is Igor Tudor (Ivan Juric’s compatriot) and he will make his debut on the team’s bench on Sunday against Roma.

Tudor (a former Juventus center-back) did not have much time to pull of miracles, but it will certainly be interesting to see whether his appointment will bring in some new energy inside the team’s dressing room.

Roma thus go into this match as enormous favorites based on everything we’ve seen so far in the season.

Verona vs Roma Head-to-head

  • Roma have dominated this matchup over the course of history, winning 13, drawing 5, and losing just 2 of 20 meetings with Hellas Verona.
  • Three or more goals were scored in five of the last six H2H games between these two sides.
  • Verona did beat Roma 3-0 in the previous H2H clash at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, though.
  • The Romans, however, won five of the last six encounters with Verona.

Verona vs Roma Prediction

Roma maintained the perfect Serie A record through a stoppage-time winner by Stephan El-Shaarawy seven days ago against Sassuolo (a 2-1 win). They’ve scored nine goals in three league fixtures so far and we doubt the rock-bottomed Verona could potentially terminate their winning run.

The away win is thus well worth backing at the odds of 1.90, while we will also back the Romans to score two or more goals at the 1.80 odds
