Watford vs Liverpool
English Premier League
Date: Saturday 16th October 2021
Kick off at 12:30 UK/ 13:30 CET
Venue: Vicarage Road.

It’s been all change at Watford as the club sacked Xisco Munoz and he has been replaced by Claudio Ranieri.

Munoz became the 5th manager sacked by Watford in recent times, and the club, by their standards hadn’t even started the season that poorly. Ranieri will of course be remembered for guiding Leicester to a fairytale league title back in 2016 but he faces an uphill task here.

Watford are in 15th place with 7 points and have gone their last two games with no wins. Though the Hornets are just seven points from a top five place.

Liverpool come into their 8th game of the season and are the only side in the Premier League unbeaten. They are in 2nd place with 15 points and are just a point behind Chelsea.

The Reds have drawn their last two games in a row. They fought out a 2-2 draw with champions Manchester City, but the 3-3 draw against newly promoted Brentford was a surprise and Liverpool have drawn 3 of their last five games.

Watford vs Liverpool Head to Head

The last time the teams played this fixture was in 2020 and Watford beat Liverpool 3-0, before that game Liverpool have won the last 4 meetings in a row.

The last 5 meetings in a row has only seen one team score.

Since 1999 Watford have beaten Liverpool just 2 times from 15 games.

Watford vs Liverpool: Prediction

This is a really tough fixture for Ranieri to start his new job with Watford. The Italian knows Liverpool well and will try to stifle their play and defend deep.

Liverpool have looked very polished but a little rough around the edges so far. But the Reds are looking good week by week. They have already beaten Leeds and Norwich scoring 6 goals in those games and many will be favouring another 3 points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

But with a new manager in tow the Watford players will be motivated to do well that is why the 1.30 being quoted on a Liverpool win does not feel like great value to us. So we will look into different markets
