Liverpool, Man City, Manchester United and current holders Chelsea have all made it through to the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League and will be involved in Monday’s draw

The final round of Champions League Group Stage fixtures have taken place and that means that the top two teams from each group have made it through to the next round of the competition.

Action began back in September and it has provided us with some memorable moments already, as the world best club competition got back underway for the 2021-22 season.

16 clubs from all over Europe will be involved in the draw for the next round, which is due to take place in the new year.

All four English sides in the competition will be involved in that draw, as Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all comfortably made it out of their groups.

When is the draw for the Champions League Last 16?

The draw for the Champions League knockout stages will take place at 11am on Monday, December 13 at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

When are the knockout ties?

The knockout stages of the Champions League will begin in February 2022.

The first legs of the last 16 are scheduled for February 15th-16th and 22nd-23rd, with the second legs taking place on March 8th-9th and 15th-16th. Kick-offs are at 8pm.

How does the draw work

The top two teams from the eight groups advance directly to the knockout stages.

The group winners will be in the seeded pot and the runners-up from each group will be in the unseeded pot.

Two teams from the same nation cannot be drawn against each other, along with the two teams who qualified from the same group.

The seeded teams will play their first leg away from home, before hosting the second leg

Away goals rule scrapped

The away goals rule will not be in use for the knockout stages of the 2021/22 Champions League, meaning that ties which are level after 90 minutes in both legs will advance to extra-time and then a penalty shoot-out if required, to determine the winner
